Explore Braunton - The Most Biodiverse Parish in England

Explore North Devon

There's a new way to....

Explore North Devon is an innovative community archive project that is offering people throughout northern Devon the opportunity to collect and research information about their local heritage and present it to a global audience on the Internet.

The project began in 2006 as part of the Archives 4 All phase of Access to Archives, a national initiative to make information on historical records more accessible, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Natural England/ North Devon Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Further funding has been provided by Devon County Council as part of its culture development programme to expand the range of participating community archives.

The project provides opportunities for individuals or groups to contribute content to our digital community archive and become involved in research and data collection work in their area.

To see the ever-growing collections of old photographs, historical information, oral history sound recordings and film footage recording all aspects of life in the north Devon area, or to find out how to you can contribute, visit the project website at www.explorenorthdevon.org.

Explore North Devon is a partnership between Devon County Council (North Devon Record Office and Northern Devon Coast & Countryside Service), North Devon and Torridge museums service, North Devon Theatres Trust and The National Archives.
