Others beside Braunton include the Hartland Coast and the island of Lundy. Heritage Coasts were defined by Natural England and its predecessors and cover 33% (1,057km) of scenic English coastline.

These special coastlines are managed so that their natural beauty is conserved and, where appropriate, accessibility for visitors improved.
